Getting to know you! Dr. Victor & Susan Diaz
Text Box: Dr. Victor and Susan Diaz have been members of Saint Matthew Parish for almost 30 years. Victor was born in Chihuahua and Susan was born in Canada. Victor was brought to El Paso by his family and Susan came because her father was Canadian liaison at Fort Bliss. They met at Hotel Dieu where Victor was an orderly and Susan a nursing student. They married in 1975 and spent the next nine years in medical school. Victor graduated from the University Of Utah Medical School and completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is a General Surgeon. Susan is a Registered Nurse. Susan and Victor have four children; Laura who lives in Oklahoma, Nicholas in Houston, Joseph in Breckenridge and Anthony who lives in Fort Worth. Both Susan and Victor have been very active at Saint Matthew. Susan taught Confirmation classes and has been part of the Tuesday morning Bible class for fifteen years. She is also a Eucharistic Minister and has been on the ACTS team twice. Victor has been on the Men's ACTS team three times. He was the Co-Director for the last retreat. Both speak of how much the ACTS program has done for them in deepening their spiritual lives. Susan and Victor commented on how appreciative they are for Father David and his loving leadership of our parish. They feel "things have come alive" in our community since he has been here.
