Text Box: My name is Gloria Mora. I was born and raised in El Paso. I have been married for forty two years and have two grown daughters and four grandchildren, my rare jewels. I am blessed with a small but beautiful family.
I first started working as a data entry operator in the 80’s. Later I worked in social services for various non profit organizations. I did outreach for CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) which meant I went to schools, organizations and colonias doing presentations and registrations. I then worked for several years as a case worker before coming to St. Matthew.
I have always wanted to work for the Diocese of El Paso. I volunteered at the Diocesan Refugee and Migrant Services and at San Ignacio Catholic Church.
Text Box: I believe God had a plan for me. During my first trip to the west side, when I was coming for my interview at St. Matthew, I almost hoped Father wouldn’t hire me because it was so far from home. I did get hired as the parish secretary, and thank God! I started making friends and I was made to feel very welcome by the parishioners.
I see this as a ministry, not as a job. I realized that I had to be in the middle of the Church not just spiritually but physically. So I say my prayers and listen to Christian music during the one hour and twenty minutes a day I spend in my car.
I attended an ACTS retreat in November of 2006 and that changed my life completely. I embraced the ACTS community with all my heart especially since I have been able to be part of the team. I have so many brothers and Text Box: sisters in all walks of life now through ACTS.
I have learned valuable lessons from Father David, my boss. Through his actions I know we are all children of God, each of us unique, but in equal in the eyes of God.
I thank God for including me in the great community of
St. Matthew Catholic Parish. God bless you all!

The Good News of St Matthew Catholic Parish

Text Box: Dear Teachers,
Let me introduce myself. My Name is Lorena Limas and I have been teaching CCD classes for seven years. It has been an extremely fulfilling experience for me.
I started off teaching because my children were CCD students and to tell the truth, one of the teachers started to have some discipline problems with my youngest child. I decided to join his class to make things a little easier for the teacher. Little did I know that God had some other plans for me! I started seeing how wonderful it was to see these children grow in their love of Jesus. With enthusiasm they learned their prayers and I saw how beautifully they would express themselves. I started substituting and, needless to say, I was hooked!
I have a full time job but somehow God has granted me that little extra I needed to dedicate my time to my CCD kids. I also write articles for the St. Matthew Newsletter.
