I can’t believe that Ash Wednesday is right around the corner. Soon it will be time for the Knight’s Fish Fry dinners and other Lenten things to do. Right now some of us are starting to wonder, “What am I going to give up for Lent?”  Some give up sweets, others beer, others some sort of other stuff. The Lenten sacrifices could also include doing positive things, or giving up things that keep us from being better people. We could give up gossip, foul language, or road rage. We could spend more time with our kids, our parents or grandparents. We could also make it a point to come to daily Mass, either here or at another church that might have an earlier Mass or an evening Mass. Lent is also a time to be reconciled with God. When was the last time we went to confession? The parish has confessions on Saturdays from 4pm to 5pm, but if that isn’t a convenient time, you can always call the office and set up a time that is more convenient. I would also like to invite you to come to our 24hr. adoration for an hour and pray before the Blessed Sacrament during the Fridays/Saturdays of Lent. People sign up for an hour and come and pray for their own particular needs, for the needs of the parish and for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

 

My Prayer for all of us as we begin this Lenten season is that we may accept God’s love and mercy and share that love by our works of charity toward others.

 

Let’s make this Lenten season a time to become better Catholics and be able to celebrate Easter with great joy and peace.
